Virginia Woolf’s most strident feminist statement, A Room of One’s Own is based on a series of story-like lectures gave to Cambridge University in 1928 about women in fiction. In it Woolf asks why so few women wrote books or poetry in the past and sets out what she thinks is needed to correct literature’s gender imbalance.
